St Georges Chapel

St George’s Chapel was built in the late-medieval Perpendicular Gothic style and is located in the Lower Ward of Windsor Castle. The chapel was originally founded in the 14th century by King Edward III and has been the scene of many royal services, weddings and, particularly in the 19th and 20th centuries, burials. With stunning interior and exterior views, it’s definitely worth a visit.

Within the chapel are the tombs of several sovereigns, including Henry VIII and his third wife Jane Seymour, and Charles I.  It is also now of course the final resting place of Queen Elizabeth II and  Prince Phillip, making it even more special to visit.

If you’re entering the castle from early afternoon onwards it is worth making St George’s your first port of call.
